Alan Menken (born July 22, 1949) is an American film and musical theater composer and pianist.

He has composed music for Broadway musicals such as Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Der Glöckner von Notre Dame, and Newsies.

He is currently the living person with the most number of Academy Awards (four each for Best Original Score and Best Original Song) and the second most overall after Alfred Newman (uncle of Randy Newman), who has won nine Oscars.
