Sir Elton John, CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947) is an English singer-songwriter and composer. He is well known for composing several songs for Disney's 1994 animated film, The Lion King, including Circle of Life, I Just Can't Wait to Be King, Be Prepared, Hakuna Matata, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight, with English lyricist, Tim Rice. Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, won an Academy Award for Best Song and the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Elton also performs popular cover versions of Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, Circle of Life, and I Just Can't Wait to Be King.

In 1997, Elton teamed up with Rice once again to write music for two Broadway musicals produced by Disney; Aida, and of course, a stage version of The Lion King.

In 2006, Elton became a Disney Legend for his acclaimed work in The Lion King.
