Jonathan Freeman (born February 5, 1950) is an American actor and singer, known for his stage roles in Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin. Freeman also voiced Jafar in the 1992 Disney film Aladdin.

Career[]

Freeman has starred in numerous productions. He originated the role of Grimsby in The Little Mermaid. He later filled in as Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast in 2006-07 as well as Admiral Boom and the Bank Chairman in Mary Poppins. He originated the role of Jafar in Aladdin, marking the first time an actor has reprised a film role in a stage production.
